We've been working really hard to get our sisterhood activities together. Recently we've been involved in several different activities including Movie Nights, Share Time, Dinners out, Yoga Move of the Day, Pancake Night, and the Senior BBQ.
Movie Nights
Movie Nights are a favorite among sisters. Each semester we get together at least once and watch Chick Flicks or Disney Movies. It was discovered that most sisters are in love with Disney films, a development that let everybody get in touch with their childish side. Who said you had to be under 10 to love cartoons?
Share Time
At the end of each meeting, the sisters each tell the others one good thing and one bad thing that happened in the past week. It helps everybody learn a little about each others weeks and it lets girls vent if they've had a particularly bad week. Whoever has had the worst week gets to take home Ivan, the Tiger we got from Auburn at the National Convention in 2007.
Dinners
We have done a variety of dinners either as a chapter or with large groups of the sisters. Recently, we did a fundraiser at Fuddruckers and in order to help raise money, the sisters all went to dinner there. It was a great way for sisters to spend time together and get to know the MCs, who were invited. It is also a common occurrence that sisters go to the local Mexican Restaurant, Poncho's, to celebrate birthdays. It's a cheap and delicious way to grow a year older!
Yoga Move of the Day
This is a relatively new development. It started one night when the EC meeting ran late. Some of the sisters were sitting in the hall and started doing Pilate's/Yoga. They had so much fun that it was suggested we start each meeting with a new Yoga move. One of our Sisters who is taking a Yoga class helps teach the rest of us a cool, new move before we get started on the serious stuff.
Pancake Night
One meeting, the chapter discovered one of our sisters had a syrup farm. It launched a debate over whether store bought or farm fresh syrup was better. In order to settle the debate, the sisters got together one meeting and made pancakes. The clear winner was the farm fresh syrup. Yum!
Senior BBQ
Every Spring, our Advisor, Dr. Hall, hosts a Senior BBQ. She makes her famous chicken and we discuss the future for the sisters. Their Little's get them graduation gifts and the Seniors get Dr. Hall a parting gift. It's a wonderful and yummy tradition.
The Future
As said above, we've been plotting exciting new ways to get closer to our sisters. We're hoping to reinstate the MC retreat where all the sisters go to Table Rock for the day and go hiking. Other suggestions have been to go horseback riding, camping, having picnics, and doing "Death by Chocolate", an idea we got from the Regional's Conference. In order to help move sisterhood events along, one meeting every month has been dedicated to sisterhood activities.
